Their site tries to look official, and the fine print at the bottom even tells you what they are going to do, spelling and grammar errors aside.
They say they are PayPal verified, and lead you to believe that you're paying through PayPal, but I don't believe either is true. The PayPal image isn't even hosted by PayPal.
birthcertificatetoday.com is a site that charges you $19.99 just to get a link to VitalChek.com, which is a legitimate source for ordering vital records.

Another site, probably owned by the same people, is easybirthcertificate.com. Same deal, $20 for just a link to what you can get for free.
Buyers beware of this scam, unless you enjoy paying $20 just to get a link you could google for in 5 seconds...

I did this yesterday and as a senior woman I did not know of this until today, how can I stop this from my bank paying them and please help me now
Try to call your bank to get the charge cancelled. Be sure to tell them that it's a scam that led you to believe that they would supply you with a birth certificate rather than a link to a legitimate site that's available to the public for free.
Tell the bank to go to the site and see for themselves.
Hopefully they'll agree with you and refund the charge.
I think that's about your only option, aside from perhaps complaining to the Better Business Bureau.
That's awful!!!!! Internet scams are so hard to figure out!!!!!! i always feel scammed even when i'm not being scammed!
I know this is an old post, but thought I would comment on it. Turns out they are PayPal verified. A fraudulent charge was sent to my PayPal account from this site and PayPal has refused to work with me on getting the money refunded despite having no evidence that the charge was legitimate. Since there is no contact information from easybirthcertficate.com provided either by the web site or by PayPal, I plan on filing a complaint with my state's Attorney General against PayPal. I encourage others to do that same.
